My parents do not like my boyfriend. How can I get them to lighten up?

    You might also want to ask why they dislike him. Most parents are not irrational. They want what's best for their children. So, if they dislike your boyfriend, it could be because they see something in his character that is worthy of dislike, something that you are missing because you are blinded by your feelings for him. This is something that you really should consider.

    You will probably find that they dont like him and also dont have a valid reason why. its called parentall instinct. and trust me i am a very open minded person after my experiance and decided to test this phynominon (parental instinct)i started listing to every piece of advice my parents gave me and i must admid they were right 99% of the time. i dont know how it works but maybe one day when i am a parent i'll know

    Believe me, your parents dont like him for a reason. And later on you might only stay with your boyfriend to spite your parents. i've made that mistake. my parents didnt like my girl and her parents didnt like me. after 4 years together we got married and when we moved in together we realized that we actually had nothing incommin. thats when i realized it was all about the challange of proving her parents that i will ahve her.

    Just tell your parents that you both REALLY like eachother, if it's true. A parent's main concern, when their child is in a relationship, is how they treat their child. So you can also tell them that he treats you right, and tell them all of the good things he does or has done for you. The only thing that he can do to make them not like him is if he disrespects you or the family. Besides that, they don't have a reason not to like him, because he is YOUR BOYFRIEND.
