The two of you can go to his priest and ask for pre-wedding counseling, and all your questions will be answered. Yes, a Catholic priest can perform a marriage ceremony outdoors.

From my knowledge your boyfriend has to be married in the Catholic Church by a Catholic priest otherwise the marriage will not have taken place. You and your boyfriend will not be married in the eyes of the church and you will be living in perpetual sin. I am not sure about your kids though, if they will be allowed to be raised Catholic, but I have my doubts.

is your boy friend a strong catholic? would he convert to your faith?

Even if you are married by the very "Rottweiler of Christ" (Ratzinger) your husband will live in perpetual sin, because your baptism is not accepted by the Vatican Limited. If you do not convert to catholicism, you are a sinner yourself. Contradictory? You bet. That is the preaching of love, tolerance and the ecumenical mission of the Holy Catholic Church.

Yes, you must be married in the Catholic Church if he wishes to remain Catholic. You must also agree to raise you kids Catholic as well. Hope that helps.

You can be married outside the church, but you will have to obtain a dispensation to be married by a non-Catholic priest. If you talk to your priest, he will tell you how to go about getting one from the diocese.

A catholic priest may very rarely be given a dispensation (from the bishop) to perform a wedding outside a Catholic Church. You may be able to get a dispensation to be married by a minister (I THINK that's more common), but you MUST talk to his priest before the wedding. You will most likely still need to go through the Catholic marriage prep classes (takes 6-9 months) and agree to raise your children Catholic.
