    Ancient sales related stories that have been passed down from generation to generation. At one time, native people believed that you could gain the strength of animal by consuming it. If you wanted a dick as hard of a rhino's horn, then eat the horn.

    It's just a superstition, similar to why Catholics believe holy water is holy, why the Irish say it's good luck to kiss the Blarneystone or to find a 4-leaf clover. Religion and superstition go hand-in-hand. The same folks who believe in one tend to believe in the other.
