  • I have to say i have the very same habit, and have done this for years. I often end up with bad mouth ulcers because of it.. but like you its something i just cant stop! sorry i cant offer you any cures, but maybe if you chewed gum or something that would stop you chewing the inside of your mouth.
  • I've done the same thing. When you bite the inside of your mouth and tongue, they get all swollen where you bit them. Then because it's swollen it is so much easier to bite again. It's a vicious circle.
  • I used to do this, but after being diagnosed with OCD and receiving medication, I don't do it anymore. It's an anxiety reaction....at least it was for me.
  • I have bitten off chunks of my cheek interior, never pieces off my tongue. I love my tongue. its nerves. too much coffee. too many drugs. mixing your drugs, not enough sleep, worry over some problem, start chewing gum. its called caniballism.
  • I do exactly the same thing, and it is gettign worse not better. I am now doing it dailt and my tongue is really getting the worst of it. I just want to be able to stop!

  • i do that too! i know quite a lot of people who bite the inside of thre cheeks and lips, but your the first person i've come across who bites their tongue aswell! i find either chewing something or keeping something in your mouth helps, i find that drinking straws or hairbands are the best!
  • When I get real anxious about something I find myself biting of tiny bits of the inside of my mouth but it has never occurred to me to bit a bit of my tongue, ouch! my mouth is sore the next day. its been awhile now that I've bitten the inside of my mouth. I would say find out what your anxious about or focus on what you are feeling when you start to bite the inside of your mouth and tongue. Also, what's going on in your life when you do this? Do you ever go through periods when you are not doing this? what's different?
  • THERE ISNT ANYTHING WRONG WITH YOU. I STARTED DOING THIS WHEN I WAS ABOUT 10 AND IM 28. I HAVE NOT LOST TEETH, I HAVE NO HOLES UNLESS I ACTUALLY MAKE THEM. ITS IS VERY AGGRAVAITING I STILL DO IT NOW. GUM DOESNT WORK I JUST PUT IT TO 1 SIDE OF MY MOUTH AND BITE THE OTHER SIDE. THE THING THAT I FOUND THAT WORKS THE BEST IT TO BE CONCIOUS OF IT AND WHEN YOUR DOING IT JUST STOP. TRY TO TALK MOVEMENT OF THE MOUTH KINDA OCCUPIES IT. SING A LOW TUNE TO YOURSELF. ALSO IF YOU RINSE YOUR MOUTH WITH MOUTHWASH (LISTERINE) IT WILL GIVE THE INSIDE CHEWED PARTS A DIFFRENT FEELING AND YOU MAY BE LESS PRONE TO BITE THE INSIDE FOR A LITTLE WHILE. IM NOT VERY STRESSED NOR DO I HAVE OCD, IM JUST A REGULAR PERSON. I SMOKE CIGGRETTES BUT THATS ABOUT IT. HOPE I WAS HELPFUL.
