Help answer this question below.
That is exactly it, Kitten. This is about being present in the moment because all we ever really have is NOW. If you can have a strong relationship with your now, you form an excellent bond with your life. Suddenly, the pain of the past seems like something you can move on from. And you feel excited and comfortable with what the future is going to offer you. This sentiment is captured in Eckhart Tolle's novel, "A New Earth".... it's about awakening to a higher level of consciousness. You do this by releasing the pain from the past, by accepting and embracing the present, and by looking to the future with openness and awareness. Awesome question!
Agree. Would going around in circles *sort of* be the same thing?
To dwell on past wrongs or to fear the future is futile. What has been has been. And what awaits us, will continue to await us. With the time we've wasted on anger or worrying, we could have been doing something constructive about it. So yes, I agree.
Ah totally agree, miss kitta!
To that I would add, learn from the past and prepare for the future.
kitten that was well said, I try to live in the here and now but I'm alittle caught in the past. Yea I know it's not good.
Something I strive to do every day. I used to always look back with anger and regret and fear the future. But, despite the economy and tight times, I'm trying to be more postive and aware every day.
Absollutely agree-i think you've seen my profile-I'd like to start a comment thread with you-I am REALLY hurting badly todao -physically and emotionally-thanks btw for the cute email cartoom My annie loved it..can you talk somehow herin or somewhere else?
Of course I agree, kitten! Hopefully when we look around us with awareness we will do so with a kind, accepting and understanding mindset and not be judgmental, superior and self-righteous! Happy Saturday, my friend! :) ((hugs))
Totally agree. It is the healthiest outlook and approach to life.
Agree. That's a good positive attitude. Looking back in anger and forward in fear are not healthy mentally.
We should try to live in the here-and-now.
However, we should not disregard what has happened before (and perhaps to feel angry about it, among other emotions), because if we don't look back and reflect we will fail to learn from our experiences.
Similarly, if we only live for the moment we will fail to anticipate what may happen, which will impair any judgements that we make. It's sometimes a good idea to be worried because this stops us from making rash decisions which are likely to make us eventually look back - either in anger, with sadness or regret.
We cannot "look around ourselves in [full] awareness" without having a sense of experience or anticipation.
I guess it's about finding a ballance. Live for today in the main, but take sufficient account of what has happened before and what may happen.
The understanding does not adjoin to fear; it is correct opposition. In fear to look round us I pound a little, but I pound recklessly a little to be given to fear. To give us in to anger is and will not look back in anger.
A happy thought.
