Cummins 855 were offered in Marine configurations. There may very likely be some differences in terms of Cam and Pistons (compression) between the road and marine version. If you were able to check some CPL data you could tell. But if not operated at the top of its power range, these might not be so critical to change.

Next one has to worry about cooling. In a typical marine Diesel the following parts are 'changed' to allow for sea-water cooling:
    Exhaust Manifold (Water cooled)
Turbo Charger (Water cooled, in not already)
After cooler (Water cooled, if used and not already)
Oil / fuel cooler (some times, depends on application)

And added to the motor would be:
    Heat Exchanger
    Raw Water Pump
    Raw Water Manifold
    Sea Water injector into exhaust
    Raw Water plumbing

This all assumes a typical sea water cooling setup. Others such as keel cooling, etc might have some differences ala no sea water pump, and perhaps no heat exchanger, but the rest are the same.

If you are looking to do this, these swap out parts can add up. I understand remaned 6BTA marine motors can be had for around $10,000 and that might be less $$ then converting an existing truck motor.

Check out www.boatdiesel.com, there is a lot of good info there. Good luck!
