Probably best to ask a local real estate agent, or take a look in community newspapers with real estate sections and classifieds.

Check realtor.com. If you are planning on listing, an agent can give you a list of homes that sold in your area and for how much. Or, home sales is public info, you can look up what homes have sold for online, or there is usually a list of houses that have sold in the newspaper weekly. You can always drive around and pick up the info papers in front of houses for sale in your area, or go to a few open houses on the weekend, too. Open houses give you an idea of what kind of shape different houses are in for specific prices, also.

go to your tax assessors office. After that cross match the price with recent sales in your neighborhood to get an idea of price appreciation of similar properties in your area. Recent sales are often listed in the local Sunday newspaper.
