If Japanese-Americans got sent to internment camps for being the same race/descent/etc. of the enemy, why weren't German-Americans and Italian-Americans sent to these camps?

Some Germans were intered, true, but it was clearly the Japanese, by far that were persecuted by this policy.
The American goverment has apologized for this policy, so today they do realize it's harm and unfairness.
Clearly, it was racial. Before the war there was stong prejudice against the Asian immigrants. The story of how the Chinese American community had to rebuild after the San Francisco earth quake is clear evidence of this. They faced many man made adversities and discrimination.
The Germans and Italians were better assimilated into American society, and they were "white".

Both German-Americans and Italian-Americans were interred, but in smaller numbers than Japaese-Americans. The G/A's and I/A's were selectively interred based on their estimated danger to American security rather than on a wholesale racial basis, as were the Japanese-Americans.

Good question. I am guessing that they mostly sent the Japanese to internment camps because Japan was the only one who attacked us on our own soil. Not that it was the right thing to do.

In fact, they were. You can get the book about it on <michellemalkin.com>.
