Generally three days or so before your period starts. If you take your temperature each morning for a few months, you will find the exact point, because there is a slight bump (up, I believe) when you are ovulating. For about ten bucks you can buy an ovulation kit at the pharmacy which is essentially a thermomter and an instruction booklet, or you can use your OWN thermometer and follow these directions. http://www.ovulation-calculator.com/basal-body-temperature.htm

I'm very sorry but I have to disagree with the answer of zazzy_one...3 days before a period is not correct. It's very easy to find out...From the first day of your period count 14-16 days (every womans cycle is different) and that is the day of ovulation. There is a very great web site (Storknet.com) they have a Ovulation calender and it automatically calculates it for up to 9 months. The ovulation kits that you can buy these days are exactly like a pregnancy test...the kit usually includes 7 urin test and you take one every day for a week. I've never tried one myself but I heard they're great. Good luck! :-)
