If you live in an area where salt is used on roads in winter, it can definitely help extend the life of the vehicles paint and underside. In Arizona, where I am from, it is a waste of money.

It depends on several factors: where you live, the cost of the vehicle, and the color.

It stands to reason, that the more expensive a vehicle costs, the better the paint. red paint seems to oxidize quicker than other colors. if your eye is on a red vehicle, i would go for the paint protection, for this one reason.

If you live near the ocian, salt water is a metal killer. i would opt for the undercoating as well.

If none of the above applies to you and your proposed purchase, then disregard the paint and undercoating protection. its a lot of extra money to spend, if its not needed.

I would only buy paint protection, if the autombile to be purchased, has red paint, it oxidizes so fast. most new automobiles come from the factory, with clearcoat finish. i bought my new car in 2000, with clearcoat, and its as good as new. mine is silver, not red.

I would only buy undercoating, if i lived near the ocean and salt water. it would probably pay for itself in this circumstance.

its a waste of money regardless. if you buy a brand new car now, theoretically speaking you are not going to keep it for ten years. usually a couple/few years. not enough time for that kind of damage to set in.
