  • heaven in Christianity is not visible with physical form. it is more of a spiritual place you can reach only in the afterlife. so whatever hubble could prove it has al;most nothing to do in christianity
  • People believe in religion because it gives them peace and tranquility, it helps them to think more optimistically. Also, they feel then that they are a member of a community, instead of one person on their own. Also, studies have shown that religious people are, on average, healthier and/or happier than those who are not. Personally, I don't follow religion. But I do believe in a God/Allah/whatever, and in heaven. I feel empty without that belief system.
  • no one said you HAVE to believe in religion. If you don't want to believe what others do, then don't. Some people just like living for something... but you don't have to.... what's the big deal?
  • Because some people would rather believe there is something than nothing to comfort them and to make death seem like a more palpable thing. People just want to believe they aren't alone and some people need extra strength and guidance from something outside themselves. It's clearly not for everyone and I don't hold it against anyone for or against, I wish we all believed in "live and let live".
  • Sheer ignorance and a way to make money.
  • For lotsa folks, psychological comfort.
  • 1 There are many things in our life, in our world and in what is beyond, that are not of our making and over which we have very little control. We have to be realistic and not deny that. We need to give credit for such things where credit belongs and not pretend that the credit belongs to us. 2 The nature of human beings is such that they need structures and rules to function properly. Take one aspect that forms a tiny fraction of our life - road traffic. If a governing code stipulating structures and rules applying to traffic were not imposed on us there would be mayhem on the roads and things would grind to a halt pretty quick. Similarly, there are many aspects of our lives on which we cannot see eye to eye, and we need to look beyond ourselves for guidance/decision on those aspects. This is where the various guidebooks come in, all claiming to be revelations from our maker. And, of course, whose handbook on life can be better to follow than that of the maker of life Himself. HQ 67:14 asks rhetorically "Should He not know,- He that created? and He is the One that understands the finest mysteries (and) is well-acquainted (with them)"
  • Because for many folks, it's their only way to seem important. Without actually doing anything important.
