  • It was an overcast day in September of 1996. I had just entered high-school, and with it had access to a computer lab with internet access. As I hovered that mouse over the now out-dated Netscape Navigator icon, I felt a ray of light wash over me, even though from a quick glance outside, I could see that the clouds were still as thick as ever. As the mouse button clicked, not just once, but twice, a window appeared... A window into a brand new world that I have never left.
  • circa 1992, was just e-mail. then a few months later I got on IRC. if you mean full-fledged web, that was probably 1994 or so.
  • 1995 I think. AOL.
  • It was 1995. I had just bought my first PC. It had AOL pre-loaded so I joined AOL. I remember going to CNN and other news sites first.
  • 2000 I think I was inrolled in a post secondary school for sound production and media employment. We were issued laptops as part of the course and that was the first time I ever used the internet!
  • I think it was 2002. I posted a question at an NBC news message board asking whether anybody there proofread their messages. I got flamed so I left. :o
  • 1997. I remember my parent had just got it for the first time. I was 21. Innundated with the availability of specific fetish porn...I think my right arm gained 2 pounds of muscle.
  • First time was technically DARPA net around 1985 to exchange intel data. First personal use would be via dialup and BBS around 1990. First commercial internet access was around 1993. First domain name I owned was around 1994.
  • 1987. It pre-dated terms like world wide web, Internet, browsing, Google. Costed six bucks an hour, and if you chatted, took about five seconds after pushing return for the text to go up. Crude graphics, no shopping, is amazing what it turned into.
  • I was on BBoards in the early 90s through our local university. But I got on the information superhighway (as we called it back them LOL!!) in 1994. Wow, was it primitive compared to now.
  • Ok this is going to show my age. Back in around '98 I remember somehow getting to a chat room, I remember everyone talking about them, and didn't realize there was more than one. Lets just say that they were not discussing what happened in history class that day. Scared me to the point that I just now got my internet back..lol;)
  • April of 2007. Still have the same dialup service too. SSSSLLLLOOOOWWWW
