I was a stay at home mom for 11 years and it was the hardest most rewarding work that I have ever done. That amount is about right! I wouldn't want to do it over again, but I don't regret one minute that I was able to stay home with them.

I absolutely agree! All of you moms should check out momspace.com - it's a great site for networking with other moms and other good stuff.

If stay-at-home moms would get paid $185,000 a year, then why aren't nannies paid that much? The truth is, because our market is so laissez-faire, your pay is based PURELY on it's market value. Your consumers (your children) are not born with any money, so parenting is basically an act of charity--or fulfillment of a life-long dream, if you look at it that way. Of course, if you treat your kids like crap, it doesn't really matter how much housework or scheduling you do.
