My 1996 lincoln continental will only start at random. It will always turn over but sometimes does not start. when it starts it will always run until you shut it off but it is a guessing game if it will start back up or not. any ideas?

Good question, my Lincoln just started doing the same thing! I hear a buzzing sound under the dash just after turning on the key. If whatever it is doesn't buzz, it doesn't start. I've checked all electrical connections I can see but they all look good. Must be an ignition relay?

My '97 Loncoln does that, too. Last time, the mechanic fixed the crank sensor, and it worked great for months, then it just started doing it again. I've been without my car for about a month now.

try changing the fuel filter i brought my 1996 in because it would not start every so often, dealer changed the crank sensor, but soon i had the same problem. found out that the new ethanol they add to gas cleans all the crap out of your tank. plugs the filter loose junk in the tank gets sucked to the filter reduces or stops flow so your car won't start. its worked for me so far hope this helps.
