It would appear that quite a few people thinks so; otherwise, he'd have a very hard time making a living at it.
Danny Elfman is awesome though as of late he has gone the way of hair metal, grunge, etc: they start out original but end up completely imitated by poseurs. Though its flattering for the imitated, its also lame. His work on the Tales from the Crypt Theme, Pee Wee's Big Adventure, Simpsons Theme, Batman (Returns), and a million other projects, were always obvious until the imitators came along. He also played in a band prior to his work scoring called Oingo Boingo. They did that song Weird Science from that movie Weird Science. They were also the band in Back to School with Rodney Dangerfield during a party scene. Coincidently, Elfman did the score for that flick too! He's rocked for a long while but he's been repeating himself for a bit. Of course, I'd give my leg to have composed ONE of his pieces.
I like his music, but it has gotten worse since the 80's. Sam Raimi (Spiderman director) isn't a big fan if his and they don't get along.

I dunno- it seems all he needs is for Tim Burton to like his music, and a lot of people to like Tim Burton's film. And then there's the Simpsons...

What I meant was for people to say so, not to make me feel stupid. I like his music.
