I had a similar problem a few years ago, wherein my left ear seemed to be solidly "popped".  It turned out that there was a lump of earwax stuck to my eardrum.  I initially tried using Debrox (a common product for cleaning out earwax) to no avail.  After a while, I began experiementing with other chemicals and solvents, mostly automotive cleaners and lubricants, and electronic parts cleaners.  I ended up causing a fair amount of irritation to the skin in my ear canal, but somewhere along the way, something among all the things I tried did loosen the earwax so that I was finally able to get it out.  This probably wasn't the best way to solve this problem, but it worked, and doesn't appear to have caused any long-term ill effects.

I cannot tell you with certainty which solvents I used were actually effective against the earwax and which were not, but there are two that I now find myself inclined to think were the most effective; both made by the same company.  http://www.kanolabs.com/   One of these is called Kroil or AeroKroil; a powerful penetrating lubricant that puts more well-known products like Liquid Wrench and WD-40 to shame.  https://secure.cnchost.com/kanolabs.com/kanopnlu.html#anchor173855   The other is a solvent for degreasing car engines, called FloWay.  https://secure.cnchost.com/kanolabs.com/kanoec.html#anchor64269

I suppose I better say something to the effect that neither of these products is intended for use on humans, both are probably fairly toxic, and there's no guarantee that you won't do some significant harm to yourself by using them in this manner; nor is there any guarantee that they will be effective at solving your problem.  My own experience was that they did solve my similar problem, without causing me any long-term harm; but your experience, should you try this; could differ greatly from mine.

I suppose before you even think of trying this, you should make some effort to determine whether or not your problem is being caused by earwax.  If it isn't, then I see no significant possibility that this will help.  If your problem is being caused by earwax, you should first try using products that are actually made for this purpose, such as Debrox.  If that doesn't work, then you really should see a doctor if there is any way that you can afford to do so.

Try an ear candle from the health food store. It's a hollow, cone-shaped gauze strip dipped in beeswax. Make a hole in a paper plate, lay down with your bad ear up. Put the plate over your ear with the hole over the ear canal, place the narrow end of the candle through the hole in the plate, resting gently in your ear. Have a friend light the top of the candle. The plate will protect your head if anything should drop (ash, etc). The heat will cause a funnel effect in the candle that will draw out any blockages. Try up to 2 candles, if it doesn't work, go to the doctor.

You could go to the health food store and get an ear candle. This is a cone of gauze dipped in bees wax. You take a paper plate and cut a hole in it. Then lay down with your bad ear up. Put the plate over the ear and the narrow tip of the candle in the ear canal. Have a friend light the top of the candle with a match. The heat will create a funnel and pull air or wax out of your ear. The native americans used ear candles for ear care.
