The "largest" as in square feet or in terms of land mass is Denver/DIA which is situated on 34,000 acres or 53 square miles of land.

Atlanta & Chicago are often in the top spot for "largest airport" by passenger volume but neither has the largest land area.

Last year Atlanta/ATL was the "largest" with a passenger volume of 85,907,423 people and Chicago/ORD was second with 76,510,003.

The "largest as in square feet" or in terms of land mass is Denver- DIA which is situated on 34,000 acres or 53 square miles of land.

Additionally, DIA's sixth runway (16R/34L) is the longest commercial precision-instrument runway in North America with a length of 16,000 feet.

The largest airport in the us is usually determined by the area. And Denver International Airport has the largest area. It is the 2nd largest in the world!

Largest? The ranking for the above would be correct for BUSIEST (daily takeoffs and landings) - but "largest" could mena a lot of things. Most passenger boarding is Las Vegas. Longest runway is Edwards AFB. Busiest general aviation airport (non-scheduled departures - mostly private jets and piston airplanes) is Van Nuys.
