Why are people always looking for computer game "cheats"? Isn't the fun of playing the games in getting a long way on your own merit?

Sometimes it drives kids crazy when they are having trouble with a part of the game and they just can't get past it. They feel that the only sollution is to use cheats. Also, cheats can be fun, because its kind of like finding out a strong secret. It can be fun to see what the cheats can really do on the game. Some kids just want the end of the game to come so they can say they beat it. I hope I have helped :). (Please rate my answer, so I can learn how to better answer other people's questions.)

Sometimes when I play games which require starting at rock bottom and investing countless hours of time and energy just to make minimal progression, I stop and think: "wait a sec, I'm playing this game for fantasy yet it feels strangely like real life." That being said, cheats can mean the difference between playing as a young and weak peasant boy armed with a breadknife or as a hellspawned demonchild prodigy. Sometimes its fun to watch the structure of the game break apart as the enemy falls in scores and the pitiful masses you were meant to save become enslaved under your limitless power. PS. I am not an egomaniac...

LOL, i always use cheats..sometimes it makes the game more entertaining that way..other times, some games hate it when you activate more than 5 codes..either ill experience crash effect, or one time a whole memory card became corrupted..but it hasnt came back to haunt me for 3 years..you can never tell wheather or not codes would be your friend, or mess you up bad..just try not to use too much codes..better save your games on one extra empty card, IF you are playing grand theft auto series-"san andreas" or final fantasy trilogy for example..just to be on safe side.

Don't think of it as "cheating"...think of it as "winning strategically." :) I play a lot of SIM games and cheats can give you a lot of resources, money, etc to do things you wouldn't normally be able to do in the game. You can do anything you want. So, I play the games both ways.

they're probably stuck and need help so they get cheats, then it sorta becomes a habit.(me cheatr)
