I don't know if all banks are the same of course but, at my bank, as long as you are only depositing money you don't need anything but the name on the account. If you are giving them a check it may not be deposited directly because SOME banks make them clear before they will deposit them. If you have cash, I woud say that is your best bet. Good luck!

You're reading How do I make deposit into my father-in-law's account, @ different bank than mine, with a check? I'm unable to go to my bank & have to send wife to do this w/ a check....how to I do this? Must be done today.

I agree with you. Cash would be best. I wouldn't try to deposit a check into someone else's account. And I'm not sure a bank would take a check from a 3rd party.
