  • Both are enjoyable to watch, but I do miss good 2D animation. It seems that only Japan is producing good classical animation. The market is being saturated with crappy 3D animation, but it seems to be what kids like. Not that there isn't good 3D (Appleseed, Final Fantasy, The Incredibles). I don't think that one is better than the other because both can be produced well. And both can be produced poorly. But as a whole, I like watching classical animation better.
  • I am a fan of classic cartoons such as the Flintstones and more modern ones such as South Park and Family Guy which are two dimensional. Yet some of those CGI films are pretty intense and make a compelling case for 3D. I'm sitting on the fence as far as this one goes.
  • Yes, I think 2d animation is better, but only because it's actually able to do more with less. The hardest part of 3d animation is accomplishing what you want within the limited time and budget. The more complex the animation, the longer the render time, the more money it cost. And we're only recently seeing good MoCap animation, mostly from Square. Most Motion capture still requires touch up; faces and hands still seem stiff. Personally, I'm a big fan of 2d animation with subtle 3d effects.
