  • It seems to me that all answers here are good ones, but the typical barrel people see in thier daily lives is a 55 gallon barrel(Drum) (U.S) The smaller barrels such as the 33 gallon is far eastern and the 37 up to the 42 are European. I can not remember when the U.S. started using the 55 Gallon barrel...although it has be for sometime now. Another tid bit, a barrel with two ribs on it and has a stamp of (H) is the only drum that can hold HAZMAT.
