In 1994, I was sitting in front of a computer. This was the first time I had ever dialed in to a BBS. I was staring at the prompt Username:_ Wracked with indecision and a desperation to pick something fast, the only thing that would come to mind was an interesting word I had run across while reading a book (possibly Tolkien, not sure. I seem to recall something about 'the darkling sky'). It worked for me on a couple of levels so I went with it. It has become my online persona so there was no question I would use it here.

I don't know. I sat there staring at the username prompt and "stableboy" is what came out. After the fact, I made up this bit about how a stableboy is an unimportant poop-scooper and saddle-cleaner, just the sort of anonymous and monotonous jobs that are perfect for Zen practice.

Well... for a long time I was simply "Jennifer R" which is, obviously, my name and last initial. I got bored with that. I remembered that my photography teacher in high school used to call me Jenniferocious (get it... its Jennifer + Ferocious) ... kinda wierd, yes, but he was a wierd guy. So I changed it to this, because I liked it better than using just my name.

When I was a kid my mom had a pretty strange sense of humor. Kinda like me now...Anyhow, if you have kids you know they ask some silly quesrions. I was the same way. My mom would be washing the dishes or drinking a cup of coffee and I would ask her what she was doing. My mom got sick of telling me the obvious so she started telling me this line, "I'm playing tiddly winks on Zanzabar sands!" Silly as it sounds it worked and I quit asking my mother such silly questions. To this day I use this line on my kids when they ask me obvious answer questions. One day, I was sitting on the computer and one of the girls asked the other what I was doing-the answer was "She's onzanzabarsands again." So there you have it. For all of my computer stuff I use that name. So it's very likely if you see the name somewhere else, it's me. That's how I got my name. And let me say I am quite proud of it! Thanks for asking.

Sunblynd means; a person or person's, inability or disability, to see an object/subject due to natural or supernatural phenomena within nature. Example; Sunblynd, such as the sun shining in your eyes while driving to work in the morning or evening, and rear ending someone cause the sun was in your eyes... or maybe it was because you where just to busy stuffing krispy kreme's down your pie hole to pay attention to what you are doing wheather the sun was in your eyes or not. A distraction from the obvious. The inability/disability to see high speed BS traveling at you from afar. ie; An unforseeable accident that should have been seen coming in the first place. People you see on the news, who live in earthquake prone area's, tornado alleys or, flood planes, are sunblynd, as they seem confused as to why the devastation befell them dispite the obvious.

Long story. Around 1988 I visited my sister across town. Her 3 year-old son, Danny, had just returned from a weekend visit with his aunt (from the father's side of the family). His aunt's name is Sue. I knew where he had been, but I just decided to make conversation with him. So I asked where he'd been. Being only 3, he couldn't pronounce words that well and so Aunt Sue came out sounding like Aunt Shoe. "I was with Aunt Shoe". I asked, "Where?!" My sister was in the kitchen laughing, knowing that I was up to no good. So he repeated, "I was with Aunt Shoe!" So smart-alec me responded, "Well, where was Uncle Socks?" He gave me a priceless look, but no answer. So I looked at him and said, "Danny, you told me you were with Aunt Shoe. But you didn't say anything about Uncle Socks. Where was Uncle Socks? He saw my sister laughing, probably realized I was just being funny, pointed to me and said, "You're Uncle Socks!" Danny... excuse me, DAN is now 21 and he still refers to me as his Uncle Socks. It sounds cool, so I decided to use it as my handle on most message board I go on, only I just fused it into one word and changed the ending to an "x".

And then all rejoiced! And Moses began Isaac, who wed his wife and together they begat John. And they were please! And God was pleased! And thus it came that Jeremiah grew old, and his skin rumpled. And the Lord ordered a new child be born. And so it came to pass that Ronald begat a son, and the lord said, that boy-child shalt be called Eli. And he was! And all the kingdom rejoiced! -- In reality, my 'rents probably looked through a book of nice Jewish boy names and picked the coolest one. Or maybe they were listening to "Eli's Coming" as they were deciding the name:

My paternal grtandfather was Thomas and my maternal grandfather was Bryan even though we called him Dewey. If they had named me Thomas Dewey, people would have though they were naming me after a nationally known politcal figure who had run fro president against Harry Truman. If they had named me Thomas Bryan, which they did, people would have thought they were naming me for the current mayor of Richmond, Virginia. Since they rightfully believed that people would forget Thomas Bryan before they forgot Thomas Dewey, they went that way. Thomas is froma Greek word meaning "twin." Though I was not a twin, I have often had two minds about a subject as did Thomas in the New Testament. Every other generation in my family had a Thomas Sims going back as far as the American Revolution. That tradition seems to have ended with my kids - although there is still some hope.
