Well, when my wife and I go to a restaurant and she wants spaghetti and I want a steak, she orders spaghetti and I get a steak, medium, with onions atop and.... *drool* Point is, why not both make a sash?
-
Neither one of you is wrong. It's both of your opinions. Maybe you should do it both ways and see how it turns out, you never know one of you might just admit you were wrong.:)

ok............you two better start taking it easy.....I don't want to see any obits that say perished in freak sewing accident.

I wouldn't say you are wrong, but you don't mention WHY he wants to do it the way he wants to do it. I'm sure his choice isn't because he WANTS the fabric to fray .... maybe he just doesn't want to invest the time for something that might be temporary. The simple fact is you said you are working on a project together - both parties wishes need to be considered when doing something jointly. Ultimately though a decision must be made. If it's for a grade, I would go for clean and professional looking. If it's for a costume - who cares? Choose your battles. The damage that can be done from fighting over something silly isn't worth it if you love the guy.

Does he know it will fray? It is possible to put a type of glue called fray-stop along the edge that will help. I agree with the others that you probably should make two sashes, and each one will be satisfied.

You are not wrong. You will be wrong the next time you invite him to help you with a project but this time you had no way of knowing.
