  • What have you got against spending time with your boyfriend's family? You have posted this in the Casual into Serious section. So, that indicates that you want this to become a serious relationship. That being the case, your boyfriend's family comes along as part of the package. If you have some problem with his family, then maybe you should be looking for someone else. It is not right to try to isolate someone from their family especially on a special day life his birthday. Go to the family party. Have a good time. Then either before or after you two can get together for something special between just the two of you. Disclaimer: This answer assumes that your boyfriend's family is not dangerous in some way. If they are, then disregard this answer.
  • If I were in this position, i would at least make an appearance and give him his present. You could say to him that you can only stay for awhile do to family plans or other commitments; he would probably get upset if you totally blew it off.
  • Well, get used to it. Do you really like this guy? I would think you would want to be a part of his family if you love him, and show them you are worthy to be his wife.
  • Check out my review of the party.
  • Oh, my God! I went, like you all said, and you would never BELIEVE what happened. My boyfriend's mom unexpectedly started reading a biography that his recently passed Grandmother wrote about her experiences of having been sexually abused, raped and subjected to and practicing animal cruelty! She read this with no warning, infront of my 11-year-old son! It was 7 pages long of how she got held down, raped several times by her mom's boyfriend, had to drown a dog who was eating their eggs (which took 3 attempts before they succeeded in killing the dog!) They also had to drown batches of kittens! No thanks guys for the really bad advice! I should never have gone. This document was so sexually explicit that I had to leave the room with my son and go outside into the cold and rain. Next time I'll follow my gut reaction and not go.
