  • I don't have a referal for you, but you could get a IUD, those are good for years and by the time you are supposed to have a new one put in (normally about 5 years, some are 10), you would be old enough for most doctors to do the procedure for you. http://www.webmd.com/sex/birth-control/intrauterine-device-iud-for-birth-control
  • I'm not sure but have the oppoiste problem I'm 33 and have 4 children I had my tubes tied at the age of 25. But Would love to have it reversed
  • Most doctors just simply don't want to be the one resonsible for you being infertile. At 26 you have a long time to go before you just can't have children. They look at it and think, you have a lot of growing up to do and you might change your mind. (I don't care one way or another, that is your choice.) You didn't mention why you wanted this is there a reason? Are you married or in a serious relationship? I am interested in knowing these things. :)
  • Keep checking around. I had a doctor in Florida who was willing to perform the procedure on me and I was only 21, although I did already have one child. Unfortunately, I had to move before I had a chance to have the procedure, and my new doctor wasn't interested in performing it on me for probably the same reasons that your doctor doesn't want to. I know that you can be quite certain that you don't want to have children, like I was. I'm nearly 30 now and haven't had, nor plan on having any more children. I never did get the procedure. Despite the fact that I am much older now, and most doctors would now be willing to do it, I'm doing just fine using the Patch.
  • A urologist performed a vasectomy on my 30 year old husband many years ago. This sounds like some crazy doctor who isn't willing to provide what a patient requests. Find another doctor.
  • I dont know about this since you haven't had children yet. If you had at least 1 viable birth, no one would question you, but a lot of doctors won't do it because they don't feel right doing something so drastic for someone so young. I am 26 as well and have 2 children so my doctor would do it in a heartbeat if I asked him to. While I can understand your commitment to your decision and fully support you in your decision, I would suggest using Mirena, the IUD instead. Its good for 5 years, and effective immediately after insertion. Its more effective than tubal ligations. Tubals are only 99.5% to 99.85% effective, while Mirena is 99.9% effective. I use the Mirena myself and have had no complications, in fact it in most cases will rid you of your monthly visitor (which is not harmful) and you get better protection from getting pregnant. If you were to do this and decide in a year that you wanted children, it can be removed in a matter of minutes and you are instantly fertile. This way, you dont have to take pills or remember to go get a shot, but you're not going to get pregnant either (99.9% effective!) After the 5 years, you either get a new one, or maybe you'll be old enough for a doctor near you to agree to giving you a tubal ligation. Just a little word of advice, take care and good luck to you!
  • I just don't understand why I can't sign a release form saying that I do not hold anyone responsible but myself for my infertility. Specifically, I can't sue the doctor.
  • It is really weird that doctors will not do it because of your age. My sister was 21 or 22 when she got her tubal ligation done.
