Have any of you ever heard of ultra sounds causing birth defects, autism, ect.?

    I have heard that rumor but all an ultra sound is sound waves going through to form a picture. It's safe.

    Hi, not sure of the answer to your question. But if it helps, during my last 2 pregnancys I had ultrasounds on an almost weekly basis (I have a birth defect in my uterus) my kids are fine, no birth defects or anything abnormal.

    I have heard of them possibly being harmful but in other ways. Here are a few articles about their dangers.

    And just think about it, the same ultrasound waves can clean jewelry and heat up the water.

    No one knows the cause of Autism (or similar illnesses).

    Both my kids were ultra scanned, as are millions of other children EVERY day. The risks are minimal.

    I've heard that. I wish I had all the links.
    I heard that the places that do the photos just for fun are the worst for a lot of reasons.
    It's a little scary to think about the radiation or whatever....

    I have not heard that. Amniocentisis (sp?) can be very dangerous, but I have not heard of ultrasound being dangerous.

    about 5 years ago my doc told me they were cutting back on ultra sounds cause it alternates the babies brains ( if the baby is right handed it will end up left handed if too many ultra sounds) but i havent herd anything else censt then and i have two boy and a girl on the way in june and they are nice and healthy. hopes this helps
