  • I don't think they do. I can't measure things in imperial, only metric, because they never taught me
  • Most of the world uses metric. So, if you live in one of the places that uses "Standard" measures, it would make sense to know the way that you will usually be measuring things at home, and the way that the rest of the world measures things. That way, if you decide to travel, or move to another country, you won't be a complete idiot when it comes to measurements. You will also be able to convert one measurement to another.
  • standard for tradition, and metric for any complicated calculation. When you get to college and university math/science it's all(the calculations) metric, even in the states. It's just confusing changing feet to inches to yards to ounces to yea... metric is so easy, to convert mulltiply or divide by ten's (move the decimal to the right or left)
  • This is to know how to measure and if you are given something to check in one unit you can convert it to another unit, without using a calculator or asking for help
