  • For the purposes of edifying scientific research (also because I was bored) I counted the number of times I blink in a minute. It turned out to be around 25 (which is born out by the very little proper research I did.) Assuming an average person is awake for 16 hours a day, and assuming that the average western lifespan is 75 years that equates to 657,000,000 blinks. This is only a bit of fun, though. Obviously one can never accurately work this out. Remember that when we do an engaging activity (surfing the net, for example) we blink much less, as little as 5 times a minute. Still, it was fun to work it out! http://www.asicnw.com/computer_eyestrain.htm http://www.stupidquestionsanswered.com/answered/blinks.htm
