Anything is possible I suppose, but it doesn't seem really super likely...Most Males need to be at least 8 months to a year to begin producing enough viable sperm.

I would suggest that you DO take her to the Vet. They can do a pregnancy test and rule it out. I'm hoping for a false pregnancy here.

The cycle is the same for all breeds.

    1. Pro-estrus (swelling of the vulva, clear discharge that turns bloody) 8 to 13 days.

    2. Estrus (normally bleeding has stopped. Vulva less turgid, but still swollen. NOW is when the bitch is receptive to breeding most likely and to conception) 4 to 7 days.

3.Metestrus (when puppies are growing, if successfully bred. Also time with false pregnancy can happen) 6 to 10 weeks.

    4. Anestrus (quiet period of variabe duration when there is no activity in the bitch's reproductive tract) 15 weeks.

It would NOT be a great thing if she is pregnant from this heat. The vast majority of Responsible Breeders would urge you to wait until she is about 2 or even closer to 3 years old before breeding her. (I understand this was not intentional, this time.)

Generally a false Pregnancy is more of an "emotional" issue generally speaking...for the bitch.

IF she were to actually produce milk in a false Pregnancy, she could possibly develop Mastitis...which CAN lead to some real emergency distress and really should ideally be handled by a Vet unless you are VERY well qualified to handle it...and even then there are often medications needed that the average person won't have on hand or be able to just buy.

I've included a couple of different links for you at the end here, so when you call the Vet, you'll be "in the loop" as to questions to ask and questions you may be asked!

Responsible Breeders also plan to SHOW their breeding dogs and bitches to earn their points and titles so as to prove out that the dog or bitch in question SHOULD BE CONSIDERED for breeding.

If you are unwilling or unable to show these dogs, why not go ahead and have them both altered. Spaying your bitch can be done now...and it will protect her from reproductive Cancers and cut way back on the chance that she will get Breast Cancer. Neutering your male (at about 8 or 9 months) will keep him free of Cancer of the Testis!

Sher Pei's have some unfortunate and unique health issues and should NOT be bred indiscriminately, if you care about the breed and the resulting puppies. It is imperative that you learn (if you don't know how already) what their health challenges are, and how to read your bloodlines so as to avoid procreating puppies that will be genetically predisposed to these problems.

If you are new or otherwise inexperienced to the world of dog shows and understanding bloodline research, I can say that most Sher Pei breeders (the responsible ones) are very passionate about the breed and generally are very willing to take a sincerely interested new breeder "under their wings" to help you learn and become successful...

Good breeders of any purebred lines are generally good people all around...they know that over a thousand dogs and puppies are killed weekly in the USA and they are motivated NOT to contribute to this horrible problem.

If you are excited and passionate about this breed, please do the work...learn and breed for the best health, temperament and quality you can...otherwise... spay and neuter...PLEASE.
