My employer did not deduct any federal taxes - even I filled out the W-4 properly. My employer does not have a copy of my completed w-4 - who is in the wrong?

I hate to answer a question with a question, but didn't you notice that no federal taxes were being taken out of your checks? I think you are responsible for making sure everything is being deducted properly and contacting them as soon as you see a discrepancy.

Everything was taken out but Federal taxes, Social Security - FICA - was deducted but not Federal. Earning Statments, were online, so only glanced at the first one briefly - I had direct deposit.

Who cares who is in the wrong? Is the IRS fining you?

I've had the same thing happen. No justice. Just told by my HR that I was in the wrong. I work for one of the largest financial companies in the us too, not for much longer though.

Although it seems the paperwork got messed up, it's utimately your responsibility to ensure taxes are coming out of your paycheck. I'm sure your employer told you that you should of been scrutinizing your paycheck more closely. I feel for you but you'll be paying this year........sorry.
