  • it would help if you told us what brand your computer is(dell, sony, did you build it?). i have a dell, and they were charging me 50+ for a xp cd. my best bet is to call the manufacturer and see if they can give you a free or cheap cd.
  • it is an old DEll computer. I got the computer 2nd hand and the OS seperately.
  • There actually is. It's called the ultimate boot disk. You may not be able to compile it without that cd now, however. Originally it was designed to include items from the win xp disc, but I think the authors of the project had to remove that content because of a threatened lawsuit from Micro soft. It boots up an xp box and includes utilities to recover a system. Here's 2 links to it. http://www.ubcd4win.com/ http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Utilities/Disk_Maintenance_and_Repair_Utilities/Ultimate_Boot_Disk.html and here's a review from PC World magazine. http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file/fid,8303-order,1-page,1-c,alldownloads/description.html I've got one made, but haven't ever had to use it, so can't vouch personally if it's as good as everyone says, but it can't hurt to try.
