Improve your chances of being cancer free, if you smoke...stop, if you eat fast food...stop, in other words, eat healthy, exercise( at least a brisk walk daily). use sun screen whenever outdoors (even in overcast weather) there are sunscreen's available that are oderless and colorless. You are genetically predisposed for an occurence of cancer, starting a smart "anti-cancer" regiment now will reduce your chance's of developing cancer.

Very high. You should be consulting with a dermatologist and apprise them of your family history of skin cancer. They will be able to provide you with more and better information than you will get here regarding a potentially life threatening situation.

I also have a family history of skin cancer-both basal cell and melanoma. I have been checked every 6 months since I was about 10, and several moles are ususally removed each time. So far, no full blown cancer, but there was some sort of abnormality found 3 years ago when I was 26. From what I understand, heredity plays a big part in skin cancer, so get checked regularly, wear sunscreen and cover up! (I am not a doctor)

Your chances are higher than those of us without family members who have had cancer and you should make a habit of regular screenings of the types of cancer your family have had. Also, be sure to tell any doctors you have about your family history so they shall be vigilant.

If you are of Celtic origin, you have a higher chance of coming down with skin cancer than most white people and you should be extra careful. As far as non Celts, the lighter the skin color the more at risk you are. Of course, the darkest person also can come down with it.

Sun block and sun awareness is good no matter who you are as is having any suspicious skin growths examined by a doctor. Catch it early and you have a pretty good chance.

I see on your profile that you are a Christian. According to the Bible, "You have been redeemed from the curse of the law,"(Galations 3:13). You need to stand in unwavering faith and confess that Cancer has NO part in your body. Do NOT give the Devil a foothold in your life.

I have an awesome book by Mark Hankins, "The Spirit of Faith". It will build you up in faith and remind you who you are in Christ.

    Good Luck!!
