I have a '95 Mazda 626, when accelerating, the RPM gauge moves rapidly from about 2 to 4 or 5, jumps and returns to 2 or 3, then the car starts reving up and makes like a jumping movement, as if one were going over a speed bump, any hope for the old thing

    I would look at the tranny. The CD4E automatic transmission is a well-known problem for that generation of 626.

    Probably. I'd change the fuel filter and dump a bottle of carb/fuel injector cleaner in the tank. Then I'd wait to se what happens. You'd only be into it for $20 or so.
