Ford trucks are manufactured in Windsor Canada, while most of their cars come out of Dearborn, Mich. I do remember the movie you are referring to, and you are correct, the Japanese definetly put forth the extra effort. The primary cause for this (here come the bad ratings), is that U.S. labor unions have lobbied the "more pay for less work" banner long enough to screw U.S. automakers out of competition with foriegn automakers.
