  • Since the infancy of the Church, Mary has been referred to as Theotokos (as made official at the council of Ephesus in 431). The term literally means God-bearer or the one who gives birth to God. This doen't mean that Mary existed before God, or that Mary is greater than God. The term merely stresses the fact that Mary's son Jesus is one person who is both God and man, and Mary was the mother of this person.
  • The same between God and you.
  • Godly Love. Found in the Book of John Chapter 3 V-16.............
  • Creator and created. God and servant.
  • I have read in your profile that you would like to learn Theology and Philosophy, nice subjects. I could help with Theology but as a Roman Catholic I am influenced by Dogma, I don't wish to shove my believes on you. Sorry I am not directly answering your question, but it involves very much Dogma which is what I am trying to avoid. If you wish to learn about this subject which is fascinating I suggest you start reading the New Testament and once well understood read the Old Testament, in this order. There is a Vatican site where these matters are discussed but the site is only for scholars. Philosophy is another fascinating subject, you will obtain a good deal of information from many sites in the Internet try for them to be an ORG or university sites and from the corresponding category in AB. Best regards.
  • Jesus existed before Mary ever did. Mary was the mother of Jesus' physical body. Other than that, she's just like the rest of us.
  • She's his baby mama.
  • God is Mary's baby daddy.
  • only that he favored and chose her and she and Joseph both were of Davids lineage as God said HIS SON would be..relation..God's Grace..and she and Elisabeth both were WELL AWARE OF IT...
  • Creator God and created handmaiden. Mary explained this relationship beautifully in her prayer to God in Luke 1:46-55: "My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; my spirit rejoices in God my savior. For he has looked upon his handmaid's lowliness; behold, from now on will all ages call me blessed. The Mighty One has done great things for me, and holy is his name. His mercy is from age to age to those who fear him. He has shown might with his arm, dispersed the arrogant of mind and heart. He has thrown down the rulers from their thrones but lifted up the lowly. The hungry he has filled with good things; the rich he has sent away empty. He has helped Israel his servant, remembering his mercy, according to his promise to our fathers, to Abraham and to his descendants forever." http://www.nccbuscc.org/nab/bible/luke/luke1.htm With love in Christ.
  • The same as the relationship he has or wants with each and everyone of us. HE created her and therefore she is or was HIS child. HE used her because of her lineage and relationship to David. HE used her body as a vessel to carry baby JESUS here on earth to be born a KING. HE saw she was pure and worthy of being the one to honored in such a way. She also was part of the miracle....being that she was a virgin and so willing to please GOD. HE has a plan for each and everyone of us and wants to use us in HIS great plan to do as great a miracle as Mary did.
  • The following reflects the views of Catholic theology. Mary is the human mother of Jesus, the incarnated God / Word / Logos / the Son. Also Mary is the mother of "God the Son" in the human sense. Jesus is the incarnation of "God the Son", who is one of the three parts of the Trinity. There is no father / son relation in the human sense between "God the Father" and "God the Son". In this sense, there is also no human relation of parenthood between Mary and "God the Father", for instance. • The same as His relationship with us. She is like us in that she is one of His children and He chose her to do His will; carry the Son of man in her womb for she was pure and untouched. There is no mother of heaven or queen of heaven. She is given no significance in that she is not anyone more important than you or I. She is not to be given worship as there is only One God. That is an area where the Catholic religion and I disagree on beliefs as the Word teaches me I am not to pray to her. She can offer no mercy or give no good word on our behalf. She holds no power and cannot hear your prayers. Only God. There is ONE God and not like man.. where we have a president and then the House and more to carry out.. with God.. there is only Him who is Almighty and majestic who makes ALL things possible.. such as Mary carrying Christ. No disrespect to any religion who believes differently. Those who have Mary all over their homes, I suppose I see that as a worship to God in His glory to do all things as there is no image to worship Him.. He is in everything we see, hear and touch to tell us of Him. We all have a right to our own faiths. Without God, there would be no Mary.
  • I agree. No where in the OT canon (Protestant) did prophecy ever make the claim of the virgin bearing the child being a person more holy than man or closer to God than man. There is no support in the NT canon that tells us that Mary was greater than anyone else outside of how the Father chose to use her in his sovereign plan. The Roman Catholic Church chooses to believe this and it may have had its origin around 700 A.D. This doctrine was dogmatically and infallibly defined by Pope Pius XII on 1 November 1950 in his Apostolic Constitution Munificentissimus Deus. Quite simply, Catholics believe this. Protestants do not. I choose to not believe it as I do not think there is good enough supporting evidence.
  • They definitely seem pretty close, huh? Functional family!
  • the Bible says only and simply that HE found favor with Mary..she was a humble human...and Faithful.... God PROMISED Jesus would be of David's lineage...and HE never lies...... she and Joseph were not wealthy....
  • she was gods bitch, they were into kinky role play
  • That of God to servant.
  • Creator, Creation. John
  • She said it herself in Luke 1: 46And Mary said: "My soul glorifies the Lord 47and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, 48for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. ========= In her own words, God was her Saviour and she was his servant. Nothing more, nothing less.
  • Romans 8:14 all those led by God are sons and children of God, including Mary and Jesus, with Jesus being the best of all the believers.
  • God is her Father, as he to all that believe in him.
  • Jesus didnt say that Mary was His mother. She was a bearer of that which God formed in her. There was no part of Mary (genetically) in Jesus. He was of the Lord. Totally Spoken Word. Much like true Christians:we carry Christ in our hearts, not by dogma, but by HIS Word, and Spirit.
  • God banged her then took off.
  • Rapist and victim.
  • They don't have a relationship like that. God saw all the evil on the earth and he wanted to see first hand (this is the quick and easy version.) Mary was the chosen one that God had the emaculate conception so Baby Jesus could be born. Joseph was her husband but they never consumated their marriage. Jesus grew up teaching everyone about God. Then he died on the cross for our sins, was buried in the tomb and rose the next day. Jesus is his son, He is the Father, and he is our Heavenly Father.
  • Friends with benefits
  • Mary was a chosen humble servant. She was of the bloodline that Christ was prophesied to come through. Christ was born as HUMAN as we are...Joseph & Mary did not have relations until after Jesus birth...Christ did have siblings... Jesus obeyed ALL Commandments & the last was honoring parents by putting her in John's hands before HE died.. the Bible tells all of this.....
  • God supernaturally had sex with Mary while she was married. The more logical explanation is that Joseph had sex with his wife Mary and out came baby Jesus.
  • Mary was a woman of faith who wished to please God with her life, but she was a sinner, just like you and i
  • Mary herself said she was the handmaiden of the Lord.
  • The relation between God and Mary is the same relation between God and Abraham, God and Esther, God and Peter, God and Martha. In other words Mary was a servant of God. (God) Jesus needed to be made of flesh so He can fulfill the tasks that God ( the Father) gave Him. Why did God choose Mary to conceive Jesus? Because God promised King David that the Messiah will be a descendant of him. When Jews talk about descendant, they look at the male descendants. Joseph is a descendant of King David. So this is the reason why Joseph's wife was chosen to be the woman who shall give life to Jesus our Saviour. I hope this bible verse will answer your question: Matthew 1:20,21: 20 But when he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, son of David, don’t be afraid to take to yourself Mary, your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. 21 She shall bring forth a son. You shall call his name Jesus, for it is he who shall save his people from their sins.” God bless you :)
