    *SPOILER ALERT!!*

It was Regulus Black, Sirius's brother. The one that became a death eater and then changed his mind, only to be murdered by you know who.

If you look in the section of OOTP where Sirius and Harry are looking at the Black family tree (it's near the beginning somewhere), there is a little bit more about it. Sorry, I can't find my copy right now so I can't give you a page number!

    I think it's Regulus too.

Hey, did any one notice that in the first book (I think it was), Dumbledore (I think it was) mentioned that Voldemort was the last ancestor of Slytherin, the founder of the house... shoulda been DESCENDANT.

Also, something funny I noticed, "Skeeter" (as in Rita) is slang for mosquito, and Italian for mosquitos is paparrazzi (sp?)

Read no further if you don't want things very possibly spoiled in the last book (in my opinion)...

    STOP HERE!

    I warned you.
I think that Crookshanks is Regulus. Harry saw him walking with Sirius (as a dog) on the castle grounds one night, and he was very persistent in trying to kill Pettigrew.
If that's correct, sorry for spoiling it for you.

Regulus Black, who is only mentioned briefly in Book 5. He is a known Deatheater. It was known that he was killed on Voldemort's orders. Even Sirius doesn't know who actually killed Regulus. Just because Sirius says that he DOUBTS Regulus was important enough to have been killed by Voldemort himself doesn't make it so. We can only treat the words of Sirius as his viewpoint, not as absolute fact. We do know that Regulus got cold feet over what he was being asked to do (says so in Book 5) and tried to back out.

When they were cleaning Sirius's house (now Harry's house) in Book 5, they found a locket that wouldn't open among various "dark" objects.

This is my opinion, and I plan on finding out for sure the day Book 7 goes on sale.
