The best Romance novel I've read was Redeeming Love.
Romance is NOT my cup of tea when it comes to reading.
But this book, was definitely an exception.

Not sure what kind of "adventure" you're looking for, but what first came to mind upon reading this question was "The Time Traveler's Wife" by Audrey Niffenegger. Not an action-packed-kind-of-adventure, but pretty eventful and romantic, but not in the flowers-and-candies kind of way.
Can someone please tell me which books Robert Adams has reviewed in his compilation "A Love of Reading"? Thanks.
