My tip to stop crying is to not force yourself to stop. In other words, let it all out now. Also, try not to dwell on your loved one's death but instead think about the happy times. At my mother's wake it often gave me a break from my crying and that of others to talk about happy times we had together with my mother. Try these. I am sorry for your loss. It sucks I've been there too many times.

I just read my husband's grandmother's obit and since I only met her twice, and it's been over 15 years since I saw her last, I am ashamed that I am not crying.

I did cry on Saturday for a gal I have known for about 10 years, she was sweet and took ill suddenly. You cry, you blow your nose, it has a cleansing effect. Just make sure that you use soft tissues.

Crying isn't a bad thing...Let it out and remember all the good times!

There's nothing wrong with crying. It's better to let it out of your system rather than supressing your feelings. In the first few days to a week, you're going to feel horrible and hopelessness...but showing human emotion isn't supposed to be shunned.

If your constant crying lasts for more than a few days, consider looking into an anti-depressant.

you're lucky you can cry..it's a good thing and necessary. my sister died almost a year ago and i couldn't cry till 7 months after, then i thought i'd never stop. crying helps get all the bad stuff out.
