G'day humblesahm, Thank you for your question. Ho Chi Minh and his party were Marxists so it would have had little impact on them. However, it would have embittered the French so it would not have been a wise move. Regards

It would have made no sense to do that because Ho Chi Minh was a Marxist. It would have been counterproductive for the United Staes to support someone whose philosophy they have been battling since the end of WW2. The US would have lost a great amount of credibility in the world, and the American people would not have supported their governement in any way shape or form.
