A woman that is pregnant will have to urinate often throughout her pregnancy. But it is true, that it is one of the symptoms of pregnancy, but remembers symptoms are not necessarily the same for all women. I found I was feeling sick more often, and had tender breast. I did not really notice the fact that I had to urinate more frequently. Where as a lot of women notice the frequent urination first. But in answering your question, it is both. In the last couple of months when a woman is heavy with child she does feel the need to go more frequently because the baby presses against the bladder.

In the first few weeks of pregnancy the the uterus is sitting directly on top of the bladder, in most women. Even though the fetus is very tiny at this time the uterus is enlarged enough to cause discomfort. As the pregnancy continues the pressure is usually relieved as the baby grows, but close to the end of the third trimester there is no more room in the womb for the baby to grow. At this time there is some pressure on everything, some women experience laboured breathing when sitting or lying on their backs. There is also less room for the mothers stomach, causing her to eat less, but more frequently. When the baby 'drops' into the pelvis, this is one sign that labour will begin shortly, (could be weeks or days) the mothers breathing and eating will be easier but the baby is sitting directly on the bladder again. Hope that helps!

You may have to, but that can be caused by other issues too. Morning sickness (which is often all day sickness) and needing more sleep than usual are usually tell tale signs as well. I would say that if you don't know, get a test done. All symptoms could be caused by something else.

frequesnt urination is actually one of the first signs of pregnancy. It happens so soon due to the surge of hormones being produced by your body and also because the uterus is located VERY close to the bladder and is rapidly growing. , it tends to subside during the second trimester because the uterus "lifts up" for a time being. and then comes back STRONGER during the third trimester due to the added pressure from the uterus in mommy to be's bladder. hope it helped. dotnotdottie@aol.com
