If I want to mail a 1-ounce letter from the US to Canada, is there some procedure I have to follow? Or can I just put a stamp on it and mail it?

    63 cents for the first ounce -- and mark the envelope as "AIR MAIL" (http://ircalc.usps.gov/default.asp?Mode=Intl_Single&CID=10054)

    I think you can just mail it, but you might check www.usps.com just to be sure.

    "Air Mail" is not necessary on a letter or postcard. All letters to foreign countries go by airmail now. Parcels do need to be marked Air Mail or they may go by Surface which is by boat or truck 4-6 weeks.
