When you go to a wake for visitation, do you step up to the casket, and say your peace to the deceased, or do you stay away and like to remember them as thet were in better times.

    i view them, it helps to realize they really are dead and i have to face it

    I usually view. Many times thay look better in the casket than when alive.

    I usually do view at the viewing.

    I have buried many people in my life, and the only one that I said anything to was a very close person to me. All others I keep silent and 'think' about 'stuff'.

    Viewing the deceased for me is 'closing the book'. It is often then and only then that I fully understand that they are gone.

    I tend to 'pretend' or disbelieve that they really are gone until I see the evidence. I'm most unwilling to let go until I KNOW they are gone.

    i jus skip the visitation and i can pretend they moved to california.
