  • I do not write that much... but when I do I just walk away and listen to music for a while and come back after I have cleared the distractions or have an idea.
  • I listen to instrumental music and picture people doing thing depending on the speed of the melody. Soon, I've got a plot.
  • I interview my characters, use worksheets, outline the story, etc. When I'm blocked this seems to work really well because instead of trying to come up with something creative out of nowhere I'm using technical aspects to give me a "jumpstart". The site http://writers-block-solution.com/ has a manual you can download with tips, tricks, and worksheets. They also have a lot of help on the actual site itself. I like G.O.T.E sheets too. I find it much easier to get my story going once I've planned everything out, beginning middle and end, even if it changes later. It will keep you on track. Also, in the book, Write a Movie in 21 Days the woman mentions a "clothesline". Different "pins" along the line of the story keep you on track. Quite the helpful book.

  • Spike Lee said something that works for me. Get in front of the damn computer and write... Just write something.. anything... most of it will be bad but it will get you going. So just keep writing... I used to sit around and wait for an idea but now, just WRITE.. It is amazingly effective to get back with your muse
