  • YES First off an addiction is classified as(to help you decide on your own if you may be addicted to sugar): "(an)Uncontrollable craving, seeking, and use of a substance such as a drug or alcohol." "Strong emotional and /or psychological dependence on a substance such as alcohol or drugs that has progressed beyond voluntary control." Sugar is a "highly addictive, mood-altering, health-threatening substance that encourages antisocial behavior." according to http://www.rotten.com/library/crime/drugs/sugar/
  • Very. this is why 90% of products manufactured, have sugar in it. humans love sugar and the manufacturers know it. it sells.
  • You better believe it!!! I'm a witness.
  • Yes, sugar is highly addictive, in fact it's technicaly a drug. Interesting how most other drugs will get you in jail for a couple of years, yet most children consume sugar on a daily basis.
  • I am far from expert on the subject, but I think the answer is - it is an enabler that can lead addiction, i.e. over eating. Seasonings make food more paletable....it tastes better! I can use honey, splenda, sweet n low or the such and get cravings for that sweets just as if sugar was in it. It's like anything else...moderation. (I know that some people would say the same thing about salt, but your body does need a little bit of salt.)
  • Variously termed a sugar fix a sugar buzz or even sugar sensitivity, a sugar addiction colloquially refers to a situation in which a person finds it difficult to give up sweets. High levels of sugar intake have long been associated with short-term bursts of energy as well as hyperactivity in children. However there is plenty of debate in the scientific community over the degree to which sugar can, if at all, create psychological or physical dependence. Someone who consumes a lot of sugar runs a far greater risk of developing health problems other than a sugar addiction, such as tooth decay, obesity, diabetes and possibly even gout although the role sugar plays in these health issues, in particular obesity and diabetes, is disputed . http://www.myaddiction.com/sugar_addiction.html
