When a compact flash camera memory card is formatted, is there a way to retrieve data lost during the format?

My phone has a flash inside of it. I formatted that with my mac and all it really did was move and compress the stuff into a hidden folder...I didn't see that it was registry files or what I just deleted it when I saw it. I would suggest looking for something like that by making hidden folders visible. Other than that sometimes history and filenames aren't completely erased but as far as the raw data that makes up the family photo you toasted (assumption), I am 98% sure you can't get that back. Analogy: When thanksgiving dinner hits there may be a few green beans left on the table but you can bet sure enough in the Bigguns family that big turkey is toast. Probably not the answer you wanted.
