Of the options you mention, I would think that burial WITHOUT embalming or a casket would be the best for the planet. Most of you would return to the earth eventually, and feed other species in the meantime. [Yes, ewww, I know. :o)] Even with cremation there is the burning of fossil fuels to convert you to ash.

I say cremation. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. Why not help nature to speed up the process, it's for our own good. There are virus & bacteria in a lifeless human body which are not harmful to worms, insects, rats, crocodile, sharks, tigers, etc. but they could harbor those bugs for a while until re-transmitted to another human. Our wise ancestors burn their deads, I don't think they have a microscope during those times.

How about Soylent Green? Is that an option?

Sea burial, for the fish and organisms will eat the body.Cremation pollutes the atmosphere terribly, burial is a waste of space, and fired out a canon makes no sense.

Out of the choices and assuming ''burial'' refers to embalming, the traditional metal or wood casket, etc. I would have to say ''sea burial'' yo...

What is this "fired out of a cannon" business? That is a circus attraction, not a way to dispose of a corpse.

Somewhere a bird died. It fell to the ground and rotted away. No negative effect on the environment because he WAS the environment and still is today. Trees have grown due to what it gave back. You are buried in a coffin produced in a factory, embalmed with chemicals, the boat was made in a factory and consumes fuel and pollutes the atmosphere natural gas is burned to be cremated or cremated and fired out of a cannon. No matter what you do there's some effect but If you ask me Cremation is the cleanest, just don't be embalmed or anything prior.

Just saw a segment on a 'green show' all about green funeral. There are a few cemeteries that specialize in green burials, there are no tombstones (they use gps and transmitters to locate the deceased), they don't destroy the earth, they bury the people in a cloth and a basket or paper maché-like container. The cemeteries are just rolling green lawns with minimum care. They cost about 1/3 of the regular ones or less.
