Why does my friend let me down so much? i care so much about them and sometimes i wonder "why bother?" what should i do? :(

In the crew I used to run with as a kid (The Untouchables) my "god-brother" used to let me down all the time. I spent many hours of my life getting him out of trouble and silly situations. As kids/teens/young men I just accepted it, it seemed it was his place in our way of living and mine was to be the schemer/planner/brain. After we all became men.. I let that go, it was time to put away childish things... so maybe you need to consider letting that friendship fade away... Its not easy at all and you already said you care about this person, but you can't let that person hold you back from reaching YOUR goals or YOUR dreams.

If they're really your friends , they 'll come to you. There are always times when friends seem to be 'letting you down' but it's most probably because they are busy with work, their personna life... Just show them you really care and you're there for them if they need anything. But GO ON WITH YOUR LIFE. They could feel afraid if they feel you are too dependant of them, and it could at a certain extend hurt you if you are. Anyways, I wish you much luck, hope everything works out fine.

Perhaps you're expectations are way too high. If you never have high expectations of anyone, you may just never be disappointed ever again. ;)

a lot of friends have a nack of letting you down without actually meaning to dont be too hard on them they do care really they just have really bad timing
