Help answer this question below.

I answered a question in perfectly good faith with respect, integrity and to the best of my knowledge of the subject (homoeopathy), only to find someone had aggressively down-rated me (-5 points!). What did I do wrong?

Frustrating! It probably isn't any comfort to know that it happens to everyone. You did nothing wrong and please don't let some coward who refuses to give a reason for downrating prevent you from answering more questions in perfectly good faith with respect, integrity and to the best of your knowledge.

- Thanks! It's jsut a bit of a shock, like being slapped in the face with a wet dish-cloth. I wouldn't mind if my answer had been insulting or disrespectful or whatever. Oh well, I won't lose sleep over it.

It's happened to the best of us. All you can do is bash your keyboard in frustration to get it out of your system, calm down, and maybe leave a comment saying "Why the DR?"
