one doesn't help the other much not a lot of transferable skills so decide what you want to do and do it, it's all good and all fun, if you decide to snowboard stick with it it might be a little tough the first time or two but it's worth it

I've done both and I can tell you, just do whatever one you want. Because neither of them have anything to do with the other. I will say that I had a lot more fun snowboarding. =P

Someone else asked the same question so I'll just copy and paste my answer :P It is easier to learn the basics for skiing but it is really hard to get extremely good at it. Snowboarding is the other way around; hard in the beginning but once you know the basics, it's easy to get better at it. I ski and snowboard but I started with skiing. As 'J free' said though, they don't really have anything to do with one another.

I dunno, I think skiing is where it's at. I'd say it's better to start boarding though, if your balance sucks, ski =)!
