  • We search for human connection everywhere. The internet is just another medium to promote human connection, and it makes it a lot easier to communicate and connect with people, especially if you live in a small area where you've sort of exhausted your social resources.
  • The Internet connects all sorts of geographical regions. Just meeting people in my town really limits the possibilities. The World Wide Web, however, is as wide as the world.
  • Many varied reasons: People might have difficulty socializing with others in the "real world". That difficulty might be attributed to shyness, low self-steem, busy schedule, poor health, and many other reasons. On the internet, (with certain exceptions) what you say and not what you look or don't look like has more importance. The majority of people know you by what you feel and share from the inside out, not the other way around. When you socialize you make the internet a more personal experience and therefore the mechanical, cold aspect of using a machine is lessened.
  • Im slow to make friends in real life, it's easier for me to socialize on the net in friendly evironments like AB and other places where I hang on the net.
  • It's fun to be a part of something and this site has so much to offer. I could never in my life have had so many friends in one place.
  • I can only speak for myself. AB is the only enterprise of this sort I've participated in and I read the other day it was predominately populated by younger people than I. I just like the fact I can get the opinions of others, give my own opinions (I'm very opinionated and I know it), and come into the neighborhood when I want and leave when I want and there'll always be someone out that I know and can say hi to. I love it!
  • Potential rejection is easier to deal with.
  • "I want to remind us all that the world is listening, all the time. How we are ripples out from us into the world and affects others. We have a responsibility-an ability to respond-to the world. Finding our particular way of living this responsibility, of offering who we are to the world, is why we are here. We are called because the world needs us to embody the meaning in our lives. God needs us awake. The world we live in is a cocreation, a manifestation of individual consciousness woven into a collective dream. How we are with each other as individuals, as groups, as nations and tribes is what shapes that dream."
